Solar panels generate DC power when exposed to sunlight. They are mounted on your roof with racks and paired with an inverter or several microinverters, which convert the DC power into AC power that your home or business can use.
The most important component of your Solar Panel is the Cell. The Cell is part of the panel that collects light to convert it to electricity. URE is a major manufacturer of cells and sales those to many of the major US made solar panel brands.
Solar works all over the country for homeowners, but it’s especially popular in areas with great sunshine or good local incentives. States with net metering allow your meter to spin backward as your solar panels generate more electricity than you use. You only pay the utility what’s left on the meter.
Typically getting a solar system installed takes one day and sounds like getting a new roof if you are inside the house. The installation team, typically 3-6 people will be on and off your roof for most of the day mounting racking, inverters, and panels on your roof. Often times attic access is needed, but this is not always the case. It is rare that the installer would need to come inside your home for any reason, besides the garage and attic.
1. How long will it take from the time I sign the contract until the system is installed? How long from installation until the system is inspected and operational?
2. How will the combination of Solar Panel Output and Inverter Output affect my system's total prodution? Will there be clipping? Learn more about "clipping"here: https://commonsensehome.com/solar-clipping/
3. Will the company selling you the system be the same company as the one installing or is installation subcontracted to another company?
4. How would adding battery storage affect my ROI?
5. If my home needs a new roof what happens with the solar installation?
If everything goes to plan we will be on your house longer than your kids will be in your house. If you have any questions, please let us know.
